Ralphie

Ralphie on Indie303.com

Hi, I'm Ralphie.

The name comes from the CU buffalo that runs on the field during football games. I studied film when I was in school, but never really liked movies (I know, makes no sense right?), so following college I decided to continue my career with music, which is my true passion.

I've been in radio for almost 10 years now, starting when I was 15 years old. I've been with a few different stations both in my hometown of Albuquerque, and my new home since moving here for college, right here in the three oh third. The music I played on those other stations was NOT what I listened to when I was off the clock, but rather music that fit their formats. The music here at Indie is the same that I listen to at home and in the car, AND I get to throw on requests, and play tracks from my personal collection!

I try to see at least 3 or 4 shows a week, and it's usually artists that are very cutting edge and new, genre bending, or just music that makes me want to party!

To get in touch with me, the best ways are to follow me on twitter at: www.twitter.com/ralphie303

Lynne Ryan

Lynne Ryan on Indie303.com

Usually I’m quite shy and can’t stand talking about myself. But since you asked, I have an undying love and passion for music. And while I do have some (questionable) music talent, I think it’s best for everyone that I leave that part of me hidden, never to see the light of day.

So that’s pretty much how I fell ito the world of Radio. I figured, god knows I love to talk and music is my life, so if there was just some way to pair up the two I would have it all figured out.

Many years later, after somehow squeaking by with a college degree in Speech Communications, numerous internships, promotions jobs and lugging around tents and t-shirts, I ended up producing and co-hosting on a ton of stations around town. Yeah, I’ve rocked the Michael Bolton, Kenny G., Madonna and you can’t forget the likes of Slipknot and Cannibal Corpse.

Working at indie is the best job I’ve had so far. No, really... If it all were to end tomorrow, at least I could say I actually got to work for a station playing the music I wanted to play. That, my friends is a once in a lifetime experience.

The Chuck Roy Show

Every Thursday 12 noon to 1pm

A Message from indie303.com: REST IN PEACE CHUCK ROY

puppetierany What is The Chuck Roy Show?

The Chuck Roy Show was a radio program comprised of a band of merry performers (including Chuck of course) that intended to fully record 500 episodes before it’s first actual broadcast. The thought was: really get the show RIGHT and then release it to the world with enough material to put out 20 “Best Of” albums before it even merited them.

Unfortunately, as of 11:47am on Thursday, December 10, 2009 Chuck was struck and killed by a vanload of legal immigrants as he walked to the studio for another yet-to-be-released show. Show number 237 to be exact.

So...indie303.com is fully committed to airing the not-lost-at-all-but-not-yet-released recordings. You’ll be able to hear “The Chuck Roy Show" Every Thursday moving forward on indie303.com from 12noon to 1pm MST OR as a weekly CHUCK ROY SHOW PODCAST YOU CAN SUBSCRIBE TO HERE.

What’s Chuck’s Deal?

Below are a couple of Chuck’s now out of print albums with defunct bands Chuck founded, sang in or gifted with “spoken word” or some such knockoff Henry Rollins shit.

Chuck’s Band at the time: Puppetierany

puppetieranyAlbum: Pulling Strings

Release: May 4th, 2001

Description/History: Chuck once banged Momar Qadafi in Dubai at the short lived joint UAE/Yemini “Hemp for Oil Practical Drilling in the 2000s” summit. He somehow got booked at a Qatari sheik’s after party as the “entertainment.” Fourteen hours, a bag full of scorpions and a 10 foot gravity bong later, Chuck spent the first of several months of submission in a room with nothing but his wits and the occasional visit from Qadafi who’s smile he later remarked to be, “oddly like my favorite kind of chicken fried steak.” As Qadafi’s “puppet” of sorts, Chuck learned the art of screaming from the minarets of Dubai. This album can best be characterized as a confusing series of moans and sitar recorded entirely via ambient microphones in Chuck’s shower. For a small time, our big ol’ fuzzy bear was Momar’s escape. Thankfully, Chuck escaped or we might all be speaking Farsi right now. I think we both know what I’m getting at.

Status: Out of Print/Available on some Arabic bootleg websites. An original copy on the street will get you at least 4 goats or a truck of milk from those goats if it’s not in mint condition.

COVER ART: As always….Sean Rhoads.

Chuck’s Band at the time: Vagrant

hammer-guy-album-coverAlbum: Junk Mail

Release: April 12th, 1999

Description/History: Chuck was into much heavier drugs and music during the year leading up to the millennium. He was arrested four times in Central Park that year for a combination of offenses including masturbating in public, smoking crack out of a pepper shaker, and what was described only on the police report as “multiple unlawful fingerings.” Chuck’s influences during that time were Biohazard, Pantera and the metal recorded in an old Piggly Wiggly loading dock that doubled as “Chuck’s loft.” Do NOT ask about this album without being prepared to take one in the plum pouch. Heroine got chuck down to 410 pounds that year. The rest came off as a result of general disinterest in life, apathy and more public masturbation that remains undocumented.

Early praise and feedback for the Chuck Roy Show:

-The Chuck Roy Show? Really indie303.com? What exactly was the thought process here? Take a shit into the digital fartbox and make a gold record? Well you’ve taken a dump alright. Right into my afternoon Cheerios.

-Chuck Roy? I guess even in these economic times the lovechild of a lumberjack chugging maple syrup and Liberace CAN find gainful employment. Why don’t you give my dog Shithead a slot from 1pm to 2pm right afterwards. At least he’ll lick my nuts while the music’s on. Fuck.

-Hmmm...Chuck Roy during lunch? Thanks for the Internet finger down the throat while I’ve got a mouthful of PB & J you cocky fucks. How “indie”? Why don’t you sell MGMT backpacks on Amazon.com? Eat my ginger brillo pad Ralphie.

-At least Hippieman is on the show. He and I got high once at a Flying J truckstop after some casual Tuesday gloryholing in stall 12. What a gentleman. Soft, soft fucking hands and a heart like what I would like to think was beating in Don Knotts’ chest. Does that make sense? But Chuck Roy? I love dudes that feather hair like that guy from Streethawk or Alabama. Especially...ALABAMA. Eat shit indie303.com.

-I just heard Nathan Lund on The Chuck Roy Show. He regularly tries to get my children into his van when he sees them at the mailbox. Does he work? This is not a man to be looked up to…unless you’re trying to achieve some sort of work release requirement. In that case….have at it. Just thought I’d let you know in case he tries to hide his blue crayon in your children’s menu.
